Introduction:
Trifluralin is a selective, pre-emergence dinitroaniline herbicide used to control many annual grasses and broadleaf weeds in cotton, sugar beet, soybean, and sunflower. It is a soil-applied herbicide that acts by entering the seedling in the hypocotyl region and inhibiting root development. Trifluralin should be incorporated into the soil by mechanical means within 24 hours of application. This herbicide inhibits mitosis, cell division, and microtubule assembly.
