Introduction:
Glufosinate ammonium is a non-selective herbicide used against many annual and perennial broadleaf weeds and grasses. It is absorbed by plant foliage and green stems and acts as an inhibitor of glutamine synthetase. Glufosinate ammonium does not translocate significantly throughout the plant, meaning it only kills the parts of the plant that are directly contacted by the spray. This herbicide does not provide residual weed control. Visible symptoms of control appear within 3 to 7 days, but complete desiccation may take 20 to 30 days under cool conditions. Optimal results are achieved when the application is made under favorable growing conditions.
