Introduction:
Imazethapyr is a selective herbicide belongs to imidazole class. It is applied pre plant incorporated, pre emergence, and post emergence for the control of certain weeds in centrosema, chickpeas, faba beans, field peas, lucerne, mung beans, peanuts, and soybeans. The compound controls weeds by reducing the levels of three branched-chain aliphatic amino acids— isoleucine, leucine, and valine— through the inhibition of aceto-hydroxyacid synthase, an enzyme common to the biosynthetic pathway for these amino acids.
